Frequent Questions

How can I find Environmental Impact Statements?

Information about Environmental Impact Statements (EIS) can be found on the National Environmental Policy Act website.

Ways to search and find EISs from 2004 to present:

To find information about Environmental Impact Statements filed before 2004, search the Federal Register. We recommend you use the Advanced Search on the Government Publishing Office (GPO) website.

Please note: The EPA does not have copies of all EISs. If the EPA doesn't have the one you're looking for, we recommend that you request a copy directly from the agency that prepared the EIS. Both the EPA database records and the Federal Register notices give the name of the issuing agency and contact information. Also, Federal Register notices generally contain information on how the EIS may be viewed or obtained.
